PRE-PAID FUNERALS

Pre-Paid Funerals In Newcastle

Obligation-free Appointments

During an obligation-free appointment at our offices (or in your home) we take the time to discuss all pre-paid funeral plans on offer at Dailey Family Funerals. For your convenience, we offer fixed price funerals for those who wish to arrange all their service details and pay in advance. All payments for your funeral are invested, and handled by an independent company, until they are required, providing you with complete peace of mind.

Payments can be made in instalments for up to 36 months and this investment can be lodged with an Australian Owned Registered Funeral Fund to qualify you for tax exemptions.

Step One

Arranging your Funeral

Our arrangers will explain the options available to design and personalize your service, as well as the costs involved. Some very important options to consider include:

  • Whether you wish to be buried or cremated
  • The style of service you would prefer (such as a full church service, a celebration of life, a memorial service or a no attendance service)
  • The location of the service (such as a church, chapel, outdoors or at a local of significance to you)
  • The type, colour and design of your coffin or casket
  • Your flower preferences including type and colours
  • Service booklets
  • A Photo presentation
  • Newspaper notices
  • Any after funeral gathering or catering.

Step Two

Payment Options

Pre-paying not only ensures that your funeral will be carried out exactly as you have requested - it also locks in the price. Once your contract is signed and lodged, we will honour these prices regardless if the costs increase (the with exception of burial costs).

You can choose from the following two options:

1. Upfront Payment in Full

This can be paid at the time of signing the contract.

2. Installments

An initial deposit is paid, then regular monthly payments over 1, 2 or 3 years.
Please note, a surcharge applies for this payment option.

Step Three

My Final Wishes

Dailey Family Funerals supply a free booklet (My Final Wishes) that allows you to take note of the many additional options for your funeral that the basic pre-paid does not cover. For example:

  • Hymn or music preferences
    Preferred poems and readings
  • Any other personal requests to be honoured (dove or balloon release for example)

Complimentary booklets are available at each of our Funeral Home locations, or a PDF copy can be downloaded directly from our website.

Frequently Asked Questions

Will my family have to pay more money?

No - once you have paid in full for your funeral at today’s prices, there is no more to pay. The only exception would be if your family choose to alter the funeral details.

(eg. If you opted not to have a Newspaper notice in your prepaid arrangements, but your family decide to have one – they will incur the cost of the ad).

Can I cancel or transfer my contract?

Current legislation prevents the withdrawal of pre-paid monies deposited into funeral funds until the time of death. However, your arrangements can be transferred to another funeral director, should you move away from the Newcastle area (Please note though, a surcharge would apply).

How is my Pre-Paid Funeral Contract claimed?

A family member or personal representative simply contacts the Funeral Home and the arrangements, as detailed in your contract, are carried out. Once we provide evidence that the service has taken place, the funds are paid out to the Funeral Home.

Can I change the terms of my Pre-Paid Funeral Contract?

Yes, but your Funeral Director needs to agree to the changes. Please remember if you do change your original agreement, there may be additional costs.

Where is my money held?

Your pre-paid funeral plan monies are held in a capital guaranteed funeral fund managed by Funeral Plan Management (FPM).

FPM is part of the Australian Unity Group - a national healthcare, financial services and independent & assisted living organisation providing services to almost one million Australians, including 300,000 members nationwide.

FPM is a proud partner with the Australian Funeral Directors Association, and member of the National Funeral Directors Association and Independent Funeral Directors Association of Australia.
